The Party. Big expectations. For me it was the very first time. Everybody talked about it and boy, I really looked forward to this, the happening of the year. I have never been an X-mas lover but, this year I just sat down at home waiting and waiting for the X-mas to pass so I could begin my journey to Denmark. Well, I suffered through it and finally, the afternoon at December 26 I was in Gothenburg to enter the bus to The Party.
The bus-trip were really amusing. I talked to all my Swedish scene-friends and I and \1Slash/Citron. & C-Lous & Ifftic\2 entertained the other passengers with some nice music in scape of me playing violin and Slash playing Kazzo. The ferry-trip were even better. The party-feeling were on the top.
Well, we arrived in Fredericia some time at the night before the party were going to open. We were able enter the party-place but, we had to pay 300DKr instead of the announced 250DKr because of our early arrival. We placed our computers at a nice-situated table with no booking-sign on it. After a while, the organizers told us that the table was booked. We had to move, but it wasn't easy to find a good table. Almost all of the tables were booked so we had to struggle a lot to finally get placed at a really bad location.
The party-atmosphere then? Well, I liked it, but it wasn't so good that I had made myself belief. My mates that have been at The Party before thinks that the atmosphere at The Party V wasn't even near the atmosphere at the previous ones. Well, I have met some friends and I really think that The Party was worth visiting.
I had expected much from the competitions. Was they going to stand up to my expectations? Well...
The music-competition was all-right. People who have visited The Party before says that it was the best in The Party history. Some tunes were really stunning and some was just plain standard.
The intro-competition wasn't good at all. There were some acceptable intros but they were few.
The graphics-competition showed us some really wonderful pieces of art. It showed us some really lousy attempts to make pictures too but they showed all of the pictures so what to expect? Too bad that some of the pictures was stretched when displayed. An advice to all party-organizers out there; Make sure that you show us the pictures in a correct way in the future!
The wild-competition was really nice. One bad thing though was that all the contributions were made on advanced computers. I miss the VIC-20 and the SNES-demos a bit. CB4's football-animation in their contribution gave me my greatest laugh at this party.
Finally, the demo-competition. It was the greatest disappointment at the whole party. CNCD's demo was outstanding but the rest was more or less standard. The Party ought to include more good releases. This shows us that the demo-scene is on it's way down.
When \1Crash / Polka Brothers\2 received the prize-money together with Artwork in the intro-competition he said "\3This is the worst party in five years, defend yourself!\2". Crash is wrong. It isn't the organizers fault, it's the visitors. The thing that made this party worse than the ones before is mainly the contributions in the competitions.

Overall, the party wasn't what I had expected. I had a good time, but I expected an even better party. I have really nothing to complain about but my expectations were so big that I guess that the party couldn't stand up to it, no matter how good it was. I have to admit that the ferry to and from Denmark is my greatest memories from this party.
